Would you like to join Kindred in providing a warm welcome for Asylum Seekers?
Here are the some ways you can join in:
KINDRED Welcoming Asylum Seekers with kindness and compassion
Kindred circle meetings are currently held on a fortnightly basis. Meeting times are posted on the Facebook Action Networkunder events. (Children are welcome)
Kindred has an inner Steering Group made up of 8 people who direct the group and hold Kindred to it's mission statement. This group meets 8 times each year, with additional meetings as needed in the lead up to events or actions. The Steering Group communicates continuously outside of these meetings through a private social media group.
Previous events organised by Kindred members include developing and implementing curriculum for a local primary school during Refugee Week, and organising a candlelight vigil to coincide with a national day of action.
We welcome new members who are aligned to our vision and principles.
Some of our work has focused on offering friendship to Asylum Seekers in the Broadmeadows detention centre (MITA).
